About Quiet Garden Publishing

Quiet Garden Publishing was started as the publishing arm of UGANDA FAITH WRITERS ASSOCIATION (UFWA). UFWA is a group of Christian writers who meet regularly to share individual work and to work on group projects, mostly in partnership with other Christian writing organisations like Tyndale Foundation and MAI – Media Associates International.

Through these God-given partnerships we have been able to facilitate members of UFWA in their writing by hosting them in writing classes, workshops and then publishing their work from these events in our online magazine – WANDIIKA. These partnerships also made a way for our members to visit Kyaka II Refugee camp to listen to the stories of the refugees which were then collected into two anthologies – Diamond Skies of Home and, written by the refugee children, Reaching for the Rainbow. Our other titles are anthologies with contributions from many of our writers and these titles are – Above the Storm and The Precious Gift (this title was novelised by UFWA Executive Director, Lillian Tindywbwa, from essays written by members). The Precious Gift has also been recommended by the National Curriculum Development Centre to be on Uganda’s curriculum for secondary schools! We trust God will bring this dream of ours to fruition by allowing this important book to be permanently established on the syllabuses of secondary schools all over Uganda and beyond!

Many of UFWA’s members have also written their own works. Betty Kituyi, one of the founders of UFWA alongside Lillian Tindyebwa, published a collection of poems titled FALLING, which is the title of the poem that was chosen in third place in the 2012 Babaishai Niwe Poetry Competition. Jason Turyahabwa has also written a book titled Journey of a Single Father, a beautiful and heartfelt recollection of the loss of his wife and how the Lord empowered him to survive it all. Janice Lukyamuzi has also written a collection of poems titled He Shelters me in which she expounds on the love of God as a shelter to us all in times of trouble.

Another one of our treasured partners is Ghanaian author, Lawrence Darmani, who has been a great friend of UFWA’s and tireless champion of Quiet Garden Publishing. We, in turn, also continue to recommend his wonderful books to readers in Uganda and beyond.

We continue to nurture our partnerships which in turn water our writers to produce even greater works for publication!
